In May, Konstantin and I went to Latvia. I had the time of my life. I took hundreds and hundreds of photographs, and I have chosen my favourite ones to share with you today (that was so hard to do! Yikes). I wont write much today, because I think the photographs will speak for themselves.
Here is a link to Part 2 of the series.
We went to a beautiful rustic cafe in Riga City for coffee and honey cake.
We took walks through the parks in the middle of the city and I ooh-ed and aah-ed at the gorgeous russian orthodox churches.
This is his grandmothers library of russian literature. The bookshelves run deeper too – this is only the first layer.
The books were all hardback, with thick pages, beautiful illustrations, and so deliciously preserved.
Konstantin reading one of his favourite childhood books.
Wild flowers growing behind barbed wire.
When I saw this, I could hardly believe my eyes. It looks like a scene that I thought only existed in my imagination. A beautiful meadow, under thick blue skies, speckled with trees and golden flowers. Well, I soon climben onto those little wooden posts for a picture, and they broke under my weight, and I broke the beautiful meadow
The forrest that Konstantin would go for runs in.
with love,
m
