How to notice the magic of life

Magic 1.jpgI once got an e-mail from a reader who once asked about the magic of life, how to see it, how to feel it, how to live from within it.

The magic of life; the most beautiful thing about it is that it is already the fabric of everything, we just have to notice it.

Here are some of the magic that I have noticed in my life. I hope that it may bring a soft, sweet awareness to your day.

Most of the things I have written here, are things we do or experience everyday, but we do it mindlessly, without noticing the majesty of it all. When we do that, we miss the magic of life. I believe that bringing some awareness to these simple acts and truths, can truly transform your life. It has certainly changed mine.

27 years of life

1492818593522.jpg

I am 27 years old today.

I am sitting at my parent’s dining table. It is 6:30 in the morning. The house is quiet and the new risen sun is pouring its warm white light through the window and onto me.

Over the last few years I have been compiling a list of lessons, reflections and realizations I experience in my life. 2 years ago I shared everything I had written in there to that point. You can find that post here.

Since then I have learned a few more things and I would like to share them with you today.

Never touch anything with half of your heart.

Cravings of the soul

When was the last time you really craved something? And what was it?

Ice cream? At 12am?

For most of us our cravings live and die in the realm of food.

But what about a spiritual yearning? A craving for intense expansion and vibrancy in life? Does it come as intensely, as frequently, or even as naturally as when we crave a particular food?

And if not, why not?

1. It’s not what you do, it’s how you do it

When I think about changing my life, I would think of all the different things I would rather be doing with my time. I think to myself; “to change my life, I need to change what I do, because what I do makes up so much of my day and my life.”

But, I have come to understand maybe that it is not necessarily what I do, maybe it’s how I do it.

The first step is just so easy. Keep doing what you always do, but put all your energy and intensity into how you do it.

Since mid last year I have had my heart set on finding an authentic rudraksha mala. And finally, I have found one and it has found me! Thank you to my husband, who gifted it to me from the Isha Shoppe, after sathsang last saturday.

I have completed 40 days of practicing Shambhavi Maha Mudra Kriya twice a day, and in this post, I would like to share with you my experience of it so far.

But first, let’s start at the beginning.

At the end of September, I attended Inner Engineering, a course conducted by Sadhguru’s Isha foundation.

On learning to pray

prayerblog

Taken on shivarathri 2016.

Taught to pray

My mother taught me to pray the best way that someone can teach anyone to pray. Prayer is the silent language of Indian Spirituality that everybody speaks in temples. But I didn’t know the words.

From the outside, prayers in temples looked like eyes closed, palms together at the chest, a secret communion with God. Sometimes teardrops, sometimes bought to your knees. But what was going on inside? I had no idea.

A life well lived: How to nourish your mind, body & soul every day

IMG_5026

I have really been indulging in my blog for the last few weeks, but today I have a short and sweet post for you.

Every day I try to nourish myself so that I may grow into a happier person and live a beautiful and blessed life. It is a daily practice because a life well lived, a charmed life, is created one day at a time.

Writing this post has reminded me how simple it is to nourish and nurture yourself every day.

I ask myself these questions:

The first stage of self mastery: How to go inwards

IMG_1959

To me, going inwards means putting my attention into my internal environment – not only what is happening around me, but what is happening within me.

What is this buzzing of life energy incased within this body of mine? Who or what is “Malavika” and why is she delighted by some things and dismayed by others?

A life of reaction

Right now, this is our life – something happens in the outside world, and then something happens inside us. For example – Today it begins to rain outside. Perhaps on this particular day, this is bad news to us for many reasons. And so it rains inside us.
